"Overall, it's hard to find a more satisfying dining experience anywhere; especially one where the attentive service is as remarkable as the savory food."

Corpus Christi Caller Times, by Mayra Beltran.

Lobster Thermidor, one of the rotating daily features, is sautéed with shrimp, heavy cream, shallots, mushrooms, sherry wine and topped with hollandaise sauce.

It’s always great to eat at a restaurant where the owner is the chef, but it’s especially rewarding when that restaurant serves locally caught seafood where a little attention to detailing with local suppliers ensures quality and freshness. This is the case here, and there’s no shortage of appealing dishes on the menu in addition to the nightly chef’s specials. There are non-seafood dishes as well, including beef, chicken, and vegetarian options. The dining room is simple, comfortable, and attractive. The tables are well separated, and the walls serve as gallery space, holding works by local artists. ***

…..we sipped well-made martinis at the bar, then moved on to the white-tablecloth dining room, where classic renditions of escargot in a Pernot cream sauce and crème brulee are winners.

“Among the specials that evening was a plate of Celestial Shrimp, in which the plump crustaceans were crusted in Parmesan cheese and served in a crème reductions flavored with shallots, white wine and lemon. It led perfectly to the excess of Mahi Mahi Oscar, in which the sweet fish was topped with a hollandaise sauce laden with crabmeat and asparagus. The sauce itself was a work of art to match the nature scenes of the walls. Next time I want to try it with the beef tenderloin.

We like this airy space (colorful artwork, white tablecloths, paired with blond wood chairs); so do all the other patrons (the place has been expanding and now has a new bar). We expected nothing less than fresh seafood and were pleased with the results, form the shrimp cocktail with a not-to-spicy red sauce to the catch of the day, black drum, which we and a friend had broiled and prepare two ways: with tarragon and a garlic-butter compote, and topped with crab and asparagus and then covered in decadent hollandaise.

Dear Craig and Ramona,
We wanted to thank you for our wonderful dining experience on the evening of Sept. 8, 2006. We have sampled the cuisine in virtually all of the restaurants in the Rockport/Fulton area from time to time, and I must say Latitude 28.02 is absolutely the best of them all. Your menu selections, food preparation, plating and presentation, choice of herbs and seasonings, and service are all impeccable. Best of all, your pricing is quite reasonable. We will certainly be in again for a visit on our next trip to Rockport.
Best Wishes to you and your staff,
Wanda and Chuck Sirmans

Dear Ramona and Craig,

My wife and I had dinner with you all last Friday evening, a week ago today. We were the folks looking for a posted menu when you, Craig saw us on the porch, invited us in and off we went from there………..Amy had the grouper with special mango salsa and I had absolutely the best black drum I’ve ever had, a simple sauté. I’m serving salmon with mango salsa this evening to eight, couscous and gently steamed asparagus. An apple pie just came out of the oven………All of which is to say that our evening with you was terrific, memorable, and an inspiration, in some measure, for the evening’s menu. We just wanted you to know.

We’ll be back before year’s end and hope to spend another fine evening in your company.
